Christmas Treats!

Well last night was baking night at the Wind's Here Casa (my parents house, we live at the top of a very windy mountain.) We made my favorite easy treat Toffee Cookies, and Peanut Patties!
Yums!!

Here is my recipe for Toffee Cookies:
1 sleeve of saltine crackers
1 cup of butter
1 cup of brown sugar packed
1-2 cups of semi sweet chocolate chips
any nuts you want!

Pre-heat the oven to 400 degrees. Line the crackers on a cookie sheet that has a rim. In a saucepan melt 2 cups of butter careful not to burn it, then add brown sugar and bring to a boil. Boil for 3 minutes. Pour over crackers and bake for 5 min. As soon as it is out of the oven spread between 1 and 2 cups of chocolate chips, and spread as they melt. Sprinkle any kind of nuts you want over the top. Let it cool completely!

This is so easy and so yummy!!

In coming post my families Christmas Eve Extravaganza and Decorations!

Why I Love Christmas Break...

Every college kid relishes the time when they get to come home after a long two weeks of finals to their parents house. Each has their own reasons but here are mine!

You actually have time to read for fun! I am reading over this break The Help and One Fifth Avenue. PS- If you are from the South you have to read this book, no joke I will find you if you don't! JK!! But really read it...

My Bed- I love my bed at home it is sooo comfy!

Having premium cable and HBO on Demand

Going lunching with my mommy, we do it every week day I am home.

Having a home that is all decorated for the holidays!

Yummy treats and restaurants that I don't have to pay for!

Walking my puppy everyday and snuggling with my kitty at night

Well hanging with the parental units aint so bad either hehe...

PS- I am hoping to do a post on my house's decorations... my mom is a very good decorator! As well as outfit ideas for NYC, and many more!

College Aged Gift Guide

Ok- So many times as college kids we actually really need some stuff that parents and friends don't think about so here is a helpful last minute list for all the college aged kids in your life...
  1. Mani/Pedi Giftcards- Many times college girls let manis/pedis go by the way side, but we need them more than anyone. Find a spa or local nail place in the students college town, this is a pretty inexpensive gift that really comes in handy. Especially when you need a day to unwind from a stressful test, students can go get their nails done.
  2. Stationary- That super adorable stationary you got us for graduation is probably on its last sheets. Stationary is always a cute way to show someone you care! Try Whitney English for cute, personalized cards!
  3. Socks- Nice dress socks are always needed and as it gets colder, students need them even more. Let me tell you the sock monster that eats one sock is even more prevelent in college it seems. These are super cheat and can make a great stocking stuffer.
  4. Nice Jeans- So it is college and the nice high school jeans may not fit anymore. True we have several pair that do, but the wear to class jeans are so different from the going out jean. A nice dark wash trouser jean should be in every college girls closet!
  5. Adult-ish Items- College students are growing up and we love a gift that shows that you see us growing up too. For a buisness student, maybe a nice leather portfolio. Personally I loved my Nambe Heart Bowl that was my first piece of crystal. For a guy, maybe an engraved pencil holder cup.
  6. Hey Big Spender- Ok Mommy and Daddy- College is the perfect time to start a good, distinguished jewlery collection. Sure we have the Tiffany heart necklace and bracelet, but we are moving into the professional world and want to show we are in fact professional. Try a nice watch (I like Skagen) or diamond earrings. My parents got my diamond earrings and a diamond bracelet last Christmas, and I nearly hit the floor out of excitment!
  7. Multi Colored Sharpis- We love them, we use them, we lose them! Please replace lol!

And just so you know...
What we do NOT need: More college t-shirts, more Sorority crap

Christmas Pary

Here are pics from the Christmas Party M and I went too! It was cocktail attire and we always love dressing up! We even got a pic with Santa haha! This Christmas party was for Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity. It was so cute to see guys try to put on a real party, not just a beer party. They decorated with lights, and had egg nog and appletini's. It was not what any girl could do but they tried!

Christmas on 5th St!

Since I go to a Chrsitian Univeristy we are not afraid to say...
MERRY CHRISTMAS!
At each my school hold Christmas on 5th Street. It is complete with free hot chocolate, carriage rides, a live nativity, a petting zoo, and a benefit concert. Local churches bring hand bell players, and a craft fair is set up in the student union. It really is a wonderful time and a great photo op. Especially, for three roomates trying to find a Christmas card picture hehe.

Outside with bad lighting with the giant ornament!

Teavana for Christmas

Well, I am not sure if it was my trip to the Ritz as a young child, my southern roots, or my English heritage but... I absolutley love tea!
Every year for Christmas my parents get me something that isn't to expensive, but kind of not your normal Christmas present.
This year I asked for a hot tea maker.

While perusing Northpark in Dallas on Black Friday my family and I found Teavana! We went inside, sampled their tea, and asked about brewers.
We decided on the Perfect Tea Maker!
This brewer makes 16oz of loose leaf tea. All you do is add tea and hot water, let it brew, sit it on top of your cup, and it strains itself! The brewer cost $17.99 and the Teavana website has free shipping for Christmas! While in the store we picked up some Earl Grey tea!
Now- this present had to be tested asap. My tea turned out so flavorful and the store gives you brewing instructions to make sure each type of tea come out perfect. This would be a great gift for any tea lover, and is currently in my apartment when all the rest of my present went home with mom and dad to be wrapped...
They knew this one had to come home with me!

In Medi Weight Loss News I lost 2.7 pounds over Thanksgiving bringing me to a total of 14.7 pounds gone!!!
