Asado!!

Today we are going to an Asado.
Asado is a South American technique for cooking cuts of meat, usually consisting of beef alongside various other meats, which are cooked on a grill (parrilla) or open fire.
Our Asado is in the mountains and it is very cold. We ride horses, watching tango, and taste wine... oh and of course eat!

Hola Amigas!!

Well we have done many fun things since being here in Argentina.

Last night we went to wine tasting at the Hyatt... which is like home for us Americans becasue all the employees have to speak english in order to work there. We ate Tapas which is there word for appetizers and drank very good wine. This happens every Thursday and you sample two glass of wine. This week we sampled merlot from Bodega Lopez, and a reisling. I will become a wine conisuer by the end of these 6 weeks. My first week of classes went great, and I am very excited for this weekend when we are visiting a Bodega (which is a winery in Argentina) and going to an Asado which is a bbq. So I guess I will have bbq on Memorial Day weekend.

Hola from Argentina

Today is a holiday or dia de feliz in Argentina! It is the bicentenario, a celebration of their 200 years of Independence. I arrived in Mendoza on Saturday after a terribly long flight delay. My host family is amazingly kind and I am having a great time. Most of my blogging will be from a cyber cafe, so I can post pictures from my laptop. Internet is widely available here so I am glad to have it! We have been exploring the city and will start classes tomorrow! Sending mucho amor from Argentina!

Viaje a Argentina

I am off to Mendoza, Argentina!!! I am so excited and oh so blessed to have this experience. I hope to learn Spanish, dance my way through life (tango style), eat, pray, and love.I will be blogging my adventures, hopefully journaling, and embracing everything that this experience can offer me!

Today's Haul

Hey everyone I got two very fun purchases today that I have to share!
This is a print of Andy Warhol's "Lips" I got this at The Modern as a reminder of seeing the Warhol exhibit! I am going to have it framed and think it will compliment my decor perfectly.

My second purchase is from Target! "Keep Calm and Carry On" canvases are now at Target!!! I got mine is lime green for $15. I am super excited about my two purchases for decorating next year!

Artist Date

Artist Date: a time set aside to express, expand, and embrace your creativity
I have done more than several artists dates in my life. This is a new idea to preppy blogs but I am also a follower of yoga blogs and they love the artist date. I truly believe everyone is creative. Today I am going on an artist date with my mom. We are heading to the Modern Art Museum of Ft. Worth to see the final day of the Andy Warhol exhibit. I am fortunate enough to have always been educated in art and exposed to many different artists in different genres. Hopefully, Andy Warhol will inspire me to get creative.

Letters To Juliet

So Mommy and I went to see this today is attempts to avoid the thunderstorm brewing here in the Heart of Texas and all I can say is GO SEE IT! This movie had me laughing, crying, and trying to convince my mom to let me go to culinary school in Italy. I really loved the humor of this film. The leading man, is my kind of boy... sarcastic to the max. This is a chick flick so guys be warned, but most of my readers are ladies and let me tell you... you will love this one!
Next up Robin Hood! (I am waiting to see it in Dallas at a good movie theater!)

Happy Mothers Day

This mother's day I went to Ft. Worth to spend the day with my mother and grandmother.
We all went to church, then had lunch at the Petroleum Club of Fort Worth... and boy was it delicious!
I am so thankful for my entire family, especially Mommy and Dot Dot!

Southern Lady Magazine and Some Family History

I have always been a reader of Southern Living ever since I was little. My mom subscribed to it and when I got to college I found myself buying my own copies. Well, this month I wanted to try something new. I purchased Southern Lady magazine and was utterly thrilled with it. While, it does have a more distinguished and sophisticated tone, the recipes and articles were great. To top it off there was an article about my family history in it! God works in strange ways doesn't he!

In their History Lessons section, Southern Lady magazine went inside Ashland: The Henry Clay Estate. Henry clay is my great-great-great uncle on my fathers side. The Clay name is still alive in our family and I am so fortunate to have such a well traced (and documented) family history. I will surely keep this article and cannot wait to share it with the rest of my family!

Argentina in 15 Days!!!

Over the last year of blogging I have tried to include as little about my school work as possible. One, not what I want to talk/bitch about. Two, not what anyone want to read about, but I have to say. MY TWO HARDEST FINALS ARE OVER!! Whew... glad to get that off my chest.

So moving on to the real part of this post, I leave for Argentina in 15 days! Wow!! Mommy is heading to DFW tomorrow to come and help me pack my life up. Yiekes. I am really looking forward to just getting away from all the drama and going on my adventure! Here are some things I will be doing in Argentina!:

Eye Candy and Apartment Envy!

D Magazine (which for yal non-Texans is the Dallas Magazine) recently went inside the penthouse of the Schlegel siblings. The two live in The W's swanky penthouse, decorated by Jan Showers. She decided to split the penthouse to accommodate both styles of the brother and sister as well as their love for entertaining. Kari Schlegel has the most amazing taste, if you ask me, and here colorful penthouse looks like it is strait out of the dearly departed Domino magazine. Kari also has an amazing shoe collection, great flowers, and a tea set on her stunning coffee table... but to top it all off she has a Margaritaville Margarita Machine (girl after my own heart.) As I enter my some-what adult world, her design plan will serve as an inspiration for me! For more on the Schlegel's penthouse click here.

I love Jewels!

So... I have a guilty pleasure. Gene Simmons Family Jewels. This show is trashy, hilarious, and down right amazing. The kids are super funny and Shannon is quite possibly the best shopper I have ever seen. You also get to really see what their life is like and how living with a rock god is... never dull!

While it has not been the forefront of my blog this season I am still watching Gossip Girl... loving the fashion and it just so happens Blair and I have the same life (well pretty much)

May Goals/ Dreams

May is going to be such a quick month for me with finals, packing, moving, and going on one of the greatest adventures of my life! I am so truly blessed to have a family that supports me! This summer is going to be so much fun for me and be so busy... It will be a great time to forget about boys, school, and stress and focus on me and God! It will be a very exciting time!!
