101 in 1001 #11- Read all of the Southern Vampire Mystery Novels

Done!

So I am a huge fan of the show True Blood... I mean come on, great writing, suspense, love, gore, hotties... what is not to like.

So I decided to embark on the Southern Vampire Mystery series that inspired the show... all 11 of them (with two more to come!)

The first one I listened to as an audio book on my way to move to California and have subsequently read the rest of them... and lets just say I am hooked.

These stories combine love, mystery, and are fun, easy reads that are page turners.

If you follow me on Twitter (malloryann11) you porbably saw my updates thanks to Good Reads!

Seriously, you should take a bite out of True Blood, whether the books or show or both, one sip and your hooked just like "V"

True Blood airs Sunday Nights on HBO but is ending THIS Sunday... so be cool, get the HBO GO app and catch yourself up! I am not paid by HBO Go I just think it is awesome and so will you!

Book Club

Well now that all my papers are written and I have time to read on the subway, as well as a new Nook I am looking for some books.
So far this semester I have read:

Loved Loved Loved this tale of Southern Love and Texas! Highly Reccomend

Read for a paper. If you are a film student it is a must read!

Cute! Fun! Easy Read! Recommend

Pretty Disappointed. I knew it was a teen book, but that was for kids.

So what next? I am looking for some good book suggestions.
I have heard I should read Hunger Games but I like chic lit.

What have yal read lately?

What I am Currently Reading...

I am currently reading Roses by Leila Meacham!

Booklist says this about the book:

At the beginning of the twentieth century, the small east Texas town of Howbutker is run by two families. The Tolivers preside over the massive cotton plantation of Somerset, while the Warwicks possess acres upon acres of timber. The children of the families, pretty and stubborn Mary Toliver and suave, strong Percy Warwick, are like water and oil. Percy insists that Mary will eventually marry him, and Mary is adamant that she will never have room in her heart for anything but Somerset, yet their undeniable attraction pulls them together. Through a trick of fate, Percy and Mary are forced apart. The consequences of their separation vibrate throughout the years, giving rise to lies, deceit, secrets, and tragedies that their families must suffer through, until, ultimately, they just have to leave it to Percy, Mary, and plain fate to see if they can make things right in the end. First-time novelist Meacham’s sweeping, century-encompassing, multigenerational epic is reminiscent of the film Giant, and as large, romantic, and American a tale as Texas itself. --Hilary Hatton

I am liking it so far... it is giving me a little taste of home up here in NYC!

Amazing Read!!

So here at camp we have a lot of time to curl up in the blaring Texas sun to read. So far this term I have read three books. I finished The Carrie Diaries and I had to say I was not very happy with it. Sure, it was cute but beyond that the character development was not amazing and the story line was dull. I also read the Ex-Debutante which was great. It was a funny, light-hearted quick read that personally appealed to me because I in fact was a Texas Debutante and know the funny over the top world in which the writer tells.
Now to the real reason I wrote this post. Most recently I finished The Girl With The Tattoo Dragon. This might be the best book I have read since Harry Potter. It is a graphic murder mystery that is written so eloquently. It has amazing twist and includes topics that all journalists and business people will appreciate. I highly recommend it even though it is a bit graphic. It truly is one of the best books I have ever read!
